Green Impact Facility 

The Green Impact Facility (GIF) is a structured blended finance facility of the Environmental Investment Fund of Namibia (EIF) targeting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMMEs), with a specific focus on youth entrepreneurs wishing to undertake economically viable projects that integrate low-carbon and climate adaptation instruments. The facility provides an integrated funding solution to the Namibian SMME sector comprising debt, equity, guarantee, and technical assistance support. This package of financial support is provided on favourable lending.

The facility aims to bring together various stakeholders, such as development finance institutions, private investors, philanthropic organisations, and government agencies, to share risks and co-finance sustainable development projects in a niche and untapped SME sector. The mandate for the GIF is carried out with two reputable financial intermediaries (also referred to as Fund Managers), namely, Konga Micro Finance and Bellatrix SME Finance.

The Green Impact Facility became operational at the end of March 2023 with the signing of the facility management agreement with the two Fund Managers contracted under the mandate. To date the facility has been capitalized to the tune of N$72 million.
